And here are a couple Great Baseball Quotes for Everyone to Enjoy
and to Help put us all in the Softball Frame of Mind,
“Every day is a new opportunity. You can build on yesterday’s success or put its failures behind and start over again. That’s the way life is, with a new game every day, and that’s the way baseball is.”
– Bob Feller
“Well, it took me 17 years to get 3,000 hits in baseball, and I did the same thing in one afternoon on the golf course.”
– Hank Aaron

Hi Everyone,

I am sending out a Very Big Thank You to all of our Volunteers that attended our recent Casino nights this Past
Tues Feb 14th and Wed Feb 15th. Great Job Everyone !!

The Following Message comes from our Casino Co-ordinator Ron Williams.
(Ron also deserves a Huge Thank You for helping to put this all together. Great Job Ron, awesome Effort !!)

“Thanks to All the Volunteers for Helping out at this Years Fundraising Casino. A great effort and a great time by all involved.
Volunteering this Year were,
Graham Brockway, Goeff Weiss, Pat Methuen, John Konno, Howard Northcott, Michael Fitzsimmons, Rick Jolie, Larry Bisson, Allen Howard, Len Seib, Brian Caouette, Tim Story, Alan Vandersteen, Ross Lauri, Curtis Buck, Kirk Collins, Ralph Gardeski, Maurice Lakness, Roger Bolton, Ed Thurmeier, Guy Fortier, John Schmidt, Dan Muhlbach, Murray Cumming, Wayne Nelson, Jim Christensen, Joe Elder and Owen Melenka.

Also volunteering for two shifts were Don Jorgensen who worked the 6:45 pm to 3:30 am shifts both days and also managed the contractual responsibilities for our league for our casino advisors, the Cowboy’s Casino contract and AGLC financials and reports (spending our money). Don Cheveldayoff also worked the same two shifts and finally a special thanks to Bill Aitken who stepped up at the last minute to work both nights and manage the 11:15 pm to 3:30 am shifts in the count room. Bill took this responsibility on short notice due to an unexpected circumstance and his generosity was greatly appreciated.

I personally enjoyed working with all the above and thank them again for their time and generosity in volunteering.

Last but not least a big thank you to Norm Hurley who stood by his phone both days as the emergency call out. Fortunately his services were not required as all volunteers reported on time. But, he was available if necessary.

The earnings from this casino with be pooled with the earnings from all Calgary casinos in the first quarter of this year and divided equally among all groups holding those casinos with the funds distributed probably sometime in the second quarter of this year.

We have already requested another casino at the earliest possible date. It should be noted that our casino advisor has informed us that our next casino will probably be in approximately 22 months which would put it in the final quarter of 2024 "

Thats Great, thanks for the update Ron !! The League Appreciates the Effort !

And we also want to send a really big Thank You out to our newly registered, Brand New Player, Tim Skory. Tim registered with our League on the 11th and volunteered on the 12th for our Casino. Thats great League support Tim. It’s really appreciated by all. ( but we will still throw you out at 1st base if we can)

And I also want to personally thank Bill Aitken once again for stepping up on short notice when I had to step away from the Casino on very short notice. Thanks Bill, I really appreciate you filling in !!

Cheers Everyone,
Paul M

2023 Season Just Around the Corner

Hey Everyone,

Just an update for Everyone.

Our 2023 Registration is well under way, and as of 4:00 pm this afternoon, we have 119 Players Registered
including 15 New Players.

Looks like another Great Season Ahead for Everyone !!

There are only 75 days left until May 1st and our new Season will commence shortly after that date.
I know lots of the Diehards have been busy getting ready for the new season !!
I’ve heard reports of many guys already visiting the Batting Cages, playing winter-ball (here and down south) guys smashing balls into nets in their Garages (I’m guilty of that one), participating in some indoor HitTrax Tournaments. Bats have been flying off the shelves as well as new gloves, cleats and misc softball gear as guys start Gearing up for a New Season.
Be sure to have a look inside your bag to see if there was something you needed to pick up or get repaired before the New Season Gets underway.

For you not yet registered players, let’s pick up the pace. Our Registrar is feeling neglected (not really). But with all the work that has to be done behind the scenes please don’t leave registration until the last Day.

And How About a Great Quote for Everyone to Enjoy,

“In playing ball, and in life, a person occasionally gets the opportunity to do something great. When that time comes, only two things matter: being prepared to seize the moment and having the courage to take your best swing.”
– Hank Aaron.

Cheers Everyone,
Paul M

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to remind everyone that we created a registration Video last year, that can be found on
the Home Page of our website, under LINKS.
“How to Register Video”

Here is a copy of the Link directly below that will take you right to the video.

https://youtu.be/7hHQuLbIyOQ

This video was made last year, so don’t get hung up on any Dates or any Pricing shown.

And here is the Direct Link to our CSMS 55+ Website, where you can also view the Video.
https://www.grandslamslopitch.com/

The Video is almost 11 minutes long but it is worth the watch.
And the Actor that was hired is exceptional in his performance.
I still can’t believe he didn’t receive an Oscar !!

Cheers Everyone,

Hey Everyone,

We are off to a good but ROUGH Start to registration today !!

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
Take your time and READ the instructions !!
If you don’t get to the payment page, you have more than likely made a mistake.
Such as under the Heading,
What are you Registering For ?
If you mean to select Regular but select Alumni by Mistake, when you get to the Payment Page
you end up being Done, because Alumni don’t pay. (Sorry Kevin)

This is not a race. Take YOUR TIME.

Also if you see a sentence above the Any Box that says,
(Please use this Format)
Example, (Please use 123-456-7890 format) then PLEASE use that Format
Do Not enter 1234567890 or (123) 4567890 USE THE HYPHENS AS SHOWN !!
Phone numbers must be in the Format Shown IN THE Discription Above not what is pictured inside the little Box.
Every wrong Entry has to be manually changed !! Sorry John and Gary !!

And under Your Birthdate: (not todays date)
YOU ACTUALLY HAVE TO ENTER YOUR BIRTHDATE.
Don’t skip that and just leave the Date that shows up. We know that you were not born Today !!

Many have registered today with no issues, but many have had issues that could have been resolved by reading
the Instructions and taking your time to ensure all the Answers are filled in Correctly.

Thanks for Helping Out Everyone.
And for taking the Time to Read my little Rant, I will make a Point of Taking Your Picture during this
Upcoming Season and Posting it on Facebook.

Cheers Everyone,
Paul M
