You May Be Missing Out!

Hey guys,

Paul McNeil has been doing something really special this year. As Communications Director, he is coming out to games almost every day and night and taking, literally, thousands of photos. Photos of YOU in action with your Ken Griffey-like swing, or gobbling up that ground ball like Roberto Alomar. He has been posting all this to the league Facebook site.

It’s pure joy for that little egomaniac that is in all of us to open up Facebook the morning after the games to see if the ‘League Photographer’ happened to catch a good shot of us, or our team, in action the night before.

And not only does Paul post wonderful photos, but he sprinkles in tons of great baseball cartoons, pithy sayings and of course ‘Yogi-isms.’

The CSMS League Facebook page show that 170 of our 300-or-so membership have joined the page and are enjoying Paul’s work. I just wanted to let the rest of you know YOU ARE REALLY MISSING SOMETHING SPECIAL! You may want to consider joining Facebook and our page to keep abreast of what’s going on – especially with playoffs just around the corner.

I doubt there’s a slopitch league in the world that gets this kind of coverage!

Cheers,

Gary Paukert

Lost and Found Items at the Fields

Hi Everyone,

There is an important message from our awesome grounds crew about items that are left or forgotton at the Fields.

“We have had on occasion, come across items left behind at the Diamonds, Gloves, bats, hats, glasses etc etc and these items are then placed in the equipment box at that particular diamond, such as the pair of Glasses that were left behind last night at Triwood. If you have misplaced , lost or have just forgot an item, please check with your coach or manager to access that Box to locate, said item.
Thank You,
Ground Crew”

If someone finds an item after a game or whenever, please place that item into the Equipment Box at that Diamond or ask your coach or manager to open the box and leave the item there. Your coach and manager can then reach out to let us know that the item has been found and then a League wide message can be sent.

Unfortunately, not all items are recovered but let’s all try and keep an eye out so nothing gets permanently lost.

(And FYI, for those rare occasions, when wads of cash are found, just pass them along to me and I will make sure it is never spoken of again)

Cheers
Paul M

Funny Quote that seems to fit the occasion,

Field Storage Box Update - Apology

Hi Everyone

On my last message to the League, I indicated that the Storage Box was left open after Thursday nights games between the Mets and the Rangers.
That Information was incorrectly stated by me in my message.
The Box was left unlocked after Wednesday nights games at Triwood. The information had been passed along to me and I was asked to send out the message but I assumed it was after Thursday’s games, but the message was already one day old.

My Apologies to the Mets and the Rangers for singling them out because of this error on my Part.

So without pointing the finger at anyone else here, Let’s all be diligent in making sure the Boxes get locked up after all the Games are completed at all the Fields.

Thanks Everyone
Paul M

Hi League,

Unfortunately, the Equipment Storage Box at Triwood was Left unlocked Last Night after the Rangers vs Mets Game. And although nothing seems to be missing, this is now the second reported incident of an unlocked Field Box this season.

So this is a Reminder to Everyone, please make sure to Lock all the Storage Boxes after your games and the Porti Poti’s as well.

This responsibility ultimately falls on the Coach/Manager of the visiting Team of Game 1. The Home Team sets the field up before the games but the visiting Team puts everything away and Locks everything up. But both Teams need to talk to each other and shouldn’t just assume the other Team has locked everything up at the end of the games.

So Both Teams, Please ensure everything is secure before leaving at the end of the games.

And Players, we can all pitch in and watch out for this as well. If you happen to be the last person to leave the field, an extra double check that everything has been locked is appreciated.

Remember, these Storage Box Locks have only One Major Design Flaw, the locks must be locked in order to Work!!

Cheers Everyone,
Paul M
