I am so sorry to have to announce the recent passing of Long Time League Member,
Larry Fraser.
Larry passed away on Oct 24th, 2022 in Stony Plain Alberta.
A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 11:00 am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 5021-52 Ave., Stony Plain, AB.

Larry was a member in our League from 2004-2005 and 2008 – 2019 and is sure to be missed by many in our League and all that knew him.
Many who played with Larry will have an “iconic memory of him in full pitching gear – face mask, chest protector and shin guards”

Hi Everyone,

I have an update for everyone and I have been asked to send out a request.

Your 2023 Board of directors held their first meeting on October 24th and planning for the 2023 season is well under way. Board meetings have now been scheduled every month, right up to the beginning of next years season. Many items are being discussed and reviewed and committees are being formed to ensure a Great 2023 Season.

Also, We are looking to see who is interested in umpiring in the 2023 year and in which division(s)? If your have never umpired and want to try your hand as an umpire in the CSMS 55+, please let us know and we will supply you with a rules clinic and some on-field mechanics training. If you are a returning umpire and plan to help the league out again in 2023, please also let us know that you’re in. We will need to know from all umpires which division(s), AAA, AA or A and if you can do more than one division or if you only want to umpire in a single division.

We are also actively looking for one or two individuals that will take on the responsibility of scheduling the 2023 umpires in AAA, AA division and assigning umpires for any rainout games. So if this is you, please reach out to either Dave Finn or Ron DiPasquale. Remember this could be you or maybe your better half, who is an organized person and knows how to manage calendars/events. We need your help.

You can respond / reply to my message and I will forward your message on to Ron and Dave.

I wanted everyone to be aware that The Kodyac’s 70 team won the GOLD MEDAL earlier today, Fri Oct 14th
in their bracket at the 2022 Huntsman Senior Games in St. George Utah.

What a great result for the Kodyac’s and all their supporters.

I’m sorry to have announce the passing of Bill Whaley.

Bill passed away yesterday, Mon Oct 3rd. Bill was a long time member with CSMS55+ for 16years 1998-2000, 2004-2016.

OBITUARY OF WILLIAM JOHN
WHALEY
June 15, 1940 – Toronto, Ontario October 3, 2022 – Calgary, Alberta
William “Bill” Whaley, of Calgary, AB, passed away on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the age of 82 years.
Bill was born in Toronto, ON, on June 15,
1940. He married his beloved wife, Pam, in
1964. Later, he moved his family to Calgary, AB, in 1974. He was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Navy and the Calgary Plus
55 Hockey Association. He coached minor hockey for many years, and volunteered with the Mac’s Major Midget Hockey Tournament, the 1988 Calgary Olympics, and the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships, just to name a few. Bill was a hardworking business owner who spent many hours on the road to provide for his family. He had a passion for his grandkids and the games of baseball and hockey, to which he spent many years playing. He will be most remembered for his tenacity and perseverance.
Bill is survived by his son Tim and his daughter-in-law Kari, and their two sons, Kaden and Jace, of Okotoks, AB; his daughter Deb, son-in-law Rich, and their daughter, Piper, of Calgary, AB; as well as Deb’s birth children, Larissa and TJ; and their parents, Todd and Barb Millar, of Calgary, AB.
Bill was predeceased by his wife Pam in 2001.
A Celebration of Bill’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Fish Creek, 14441
Bannister Road S.E.,.
Calgary, AB) on
Thursday, October 6, 2022, at 3:00 p.m.
Reception to follow in the Hospitality Centre at the Funeral Home. Family and friends who are unable to attend in person are invited to join Mr. Whaley’s service streamed live (see below) on the day of the service. For those who are unable to view live, a recording of the service will be posted. Condolences, memories, and photos can also be shared and viewed here.
