Hi Everyone,

I have had several people reach out to me about what Bats can be used in our League.

The Picture for this Post shows the Six Logos that are acceptable.
Your Bat must have one of these Logos and also meet the other criteria listed Below.

All this info can be found on our Website. Please Look on the Left Hand Side of the Home Page, under Links,
click on RULES OF PLAY.

Then click on
2024 Calgary Senior Mens 55 Rules

Look Under
RULE 2 – EQUIPMENT, Section 2.2

Here is the Rule listed below,
Sec. 2.2: Only Bats with any of the following six logos on them that are not on the ASA
list of non-approved bats, may be used during any league or playoff game. No other bats
are allowed, nor are any bats that are dented, altered, or damaged in any way such that,
in the opinion of the umpire, they may pose a danger to the players or may give an
unfair advantage. Teams are to ensure that all bats that are to be used during a game
are available to be inspected by the umpire before the game starts. Illegal or altered
bats will be removed from the game and use of said bats will result in an ejection for
both player and Manager. Further discipline may be forthcoming as a result.

Tuesday May 14th - No "A" Division Games

Hey Everyone,

Just a reminder that there are no games scheduled for “A” Division on this coming
Tuesday morning, May 14th because of a prescheduled Triwood activity.
( movie being filmed )

All evening games for the “AA” Division are not affected by this event and are still scheduled for their normal start times.
But it is suggested that because of the trailers, equipment and cameras that are set up in and around the Arena, parking may be an issue so please arrive early to find a place to park.

Thanks Everyone for your attention to this message.

Regards,
Paul M

Lost Item of Clothing

Hey Everyone,

One of the sure signs of spring for me, are the messages about items left behind at our ball games.
Here is the First of the Season.
(I’m not including the water bottle I found after a practise last week that belonged to Phil, which made its way back to him minutes after)
We are looking for a Lost article of clothing.
At last Thursday’s games at Webber Athletic Park between the Expos and the Blue Jays, one of our Fans who was on the 3rd base side
left a grey XL hoodie / pullover, with Linde on the Arm at the Diamond.

If anyone that was at those games as a fan or was playing in those games and happened to pick that Hoodie up,
please let me know so that it may be returned to its rightful owner. ( I don’t want to embarrass Mike W, so I won’t mention the former Twins Coach full name here)

So Hey everyone, Let’s all be on the Lookout for Gloves, bats, water bottles, clothing etc etc after the games are finished.
Think of all the League Messages we might be able to prevent !!

Send me a message if you picked up that Hoodie.

Thanks Everyone,
Paul M

May 12th is Yogi Berra's Birthday !!

Hey Everyone,

I’m sure everyone was already aware of this, but on today’s date, my all time favorite MLP Player,
Yogi Berra was Born.
That’s right , Yogi Berra was born May 12th, 19 1925.

Everyone knows all of the Classic Quotes from Yogi, but many may not be aware of the incredible MLB Records that
Yogi still holds to this day.

Did you know,
- He was born Lawrence Peter “Yogi” Berra in St Louis, Missouri
- Berra appeared in 21 World Series as a player, coach and manager from 1946-85.
- He won 10 World Series rings as a player with the Yankees and played in 75 World Series games, both of which are all-time records
- An 18-year-old Berra interrupted his budding baseball career to join the Navy during WWII and as a gunners mate during the Allied D-Day invasion, providing cover fire on Omaha Beach to soften the German defenses.
- He slugged the first pinch-hit home run in World Series history, in 1947 off the Dodgers’ Ralph Branca
- Berra struck out only 414 times in 8,359 career plate appearances
-Berra won the American League Most Valuable Player Award 3 Times, in 1951, ‘54 and ’55, which makes him tied for the second most all-time
-Berra caught two no-hitters in his career: Allie Reynolds’ 1951 gem and Don Larsen’s historic perfect game in Game 5 the 1956 World Series
-Berra earned selection to the All-Star Game in 15 consecutive years from 1948-62, appearing in 18 in all
- Berra’s mark of 1,430 RBIs still stands as the most of all-time by any catcher
- Yogi and his wife Carmen were married for 65 Years.

Those were but a few of the amazing facts and stats from Yogi’s Career and Life.

And did you know that we have 1 registered player in our League who also celebrates his Birthday on May 12th
and that player is Gerry Ledene.

And we have to have a couple Yogism’s,

Perhaps his most famous of all:
“It ain’t over ‘til it’s over.”

My all time Favorite,
“Always go to other people’s funerals. Otherwise, they won’t come to yours.”

Cheers Everyone,
