Hi folks,

Dayball is cancelled for tomorrow. Part of the learning from our Grand Dayball Experiment this year is that Friday slo-pitch is a tough sell. In addition, we have two games per day Saturday and Sunday at the Mike Church Tournament. That would have been 8 games in four days. I know you guys are a buncha studs, but that’s a lot of softball.

We’ll see you Dayball guys at 10:00am on Monday. Remember Charlie 2 is now closed to us for Dayball and those games will now be at Triwood. Charlie 1 remains open.

Have a great weekend and be sure to come out to Triwood/Charleswood for the Tournament, Beer Garden, Food Trucks and Farmers Market.

In the absence of any evidence of COVID transmission from the one infected league member, the CSMS League 2021 season will re-start tomorrow, Wednesday, September 8th.

The Division A and AA playoffs will resume. In Division AAA, the remaining rain-out games will be made up and the AAA playoffs will start Tuesday, September 14th.

The schedules on TeamPages are in the process of being updated, but contact your coaches to make sure you know when and where you are playing.

Dayball will continue until…it doesn’t, due to weather.

Please note that due to school now being back in session at the Senator Patrick Burns school, we no longer have access to Charleswood 2 during the days. All daytime Charleswood 2 games are moved to Triwood 1 across the parking lot from the Triwood Community Centre.

Hello, league:

The annual Fall General Meeting is scheduled for October 27th. The following Special Resolution has been submitted within the 21-day period prior to the meeting as required and therefore will be put to a vote of League members present.

SPECIAL RESOLUTION

CALGARY SENIOR MEN’S SLO-PITCH LEAGUE 55 PLUS (CSMS)

September 6, 2021

Whereas: the Calgary Senior Men’s Slo-pitch League 55 Plus is currently composed of five (5) Executive Members and eleven (11) Directors; and,

Whereas: the Board of Directors is disproportionately large for an organization of just over 300 members; and,

Whereas: it has become more difficult for the Board of Directors to operate effectively and efficiently; and,

Whereas: the size of the CSMS + 55 Board of Directors has had a direct impact on its’ ability to discharge its responsibilities;

Be it “resolved”, that:

1. The Board of Directors investigate the steps required to reduce the number of elected directors from 16 to 11;
2. The Board investigate the steps required to ensure that not less than two (2) representatives from each of division AAA, AA and A be members of the Board.

Further word from wife Janet on our friend Charles Adams. He is still in the ICU and they are running tests on his heart. He is up and walking and sitting in a chair to eat his meals.

No word yet on when he might be released from hospital.
