Hello League,

I am sorry to have to announce the passing of long time former league member
Earl Allan Taylor.

Earl was a member with CSMS 55+ for 21 years.
Earl played from 1989 to 1996, 1998, 2000 to 2006, 2008, 2010, 2014 and 2016 to 2017.

OBITUARY OF EARL ALLAN TAYLOR
June 22, 1933 – Bredenbury, Saskatchewan
September 11, 2023 – Calgary, Alberta

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Earl Taylor on September 11, 2023, at the age of 90 years old. Earl passed away peacefully at the Chinook Care Centre after a brief and courageous battle with bladder cancer and dementia.

Earl was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching baseball, football, hockey, and curling. He also enjoyed bowling and golfing, but his favorite sport was baseball. Earl played ball his whole life and was a member of the Calgary Senior Men’s Slo-Pitch 55+ league until he was 80 years old. Earl and Marg spent many years travelling to ball tournaments, camping and socializing with the other players. Earl and Marg were great dancers and got up on the dance floor any chance they could. Earl will be deeply missed by all those who knew him.

Earl was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Marg, and leaves behind his two daughters Sharlene and Shellie, as well as many friends and relatives.

Monday Rec League Update !!

Hey Everyone.
We Still some soft ball to deal with.
Our Monday Rec League wrapped up today at CW 1. And the 3 Teams wrapped up another great and fun season !!
And for those who have not participated in Monday Rec, let me say, “ a more fun time on the diamond you may never have”
Lots of great guys, a more casual, relaxed atmosphere that allows for a really fun day of ball. Consider it for next year everyone!!
A Huge Shout out to Borden Gavrich for stepping up to look after this great Division this year !!
Borden also requested that the following message gets posted.
“CONGRATULATIONS TO THE RED SOX and their coach Ed Thurmier for being champions of the 2023 Monday Rec Dayball season!!
Shout out also to Jim Burke, coach of the Yankees, and Terry Warkentin, coach of the Blue Jays, for their contributions to a really fun and successful season!
KUDOS to all the AAA, AA and new members to CSMS 55+, who all brought their unique skills to create a very positive blend to rec dayball!

Hi League,

A Huge Congratulations to the Twins for taking home the 2023, “AAA” Divisions Gold Medal !!
The Twins had a great season finishing in 3rd place in the regular season and capped off the season by winning the Gold Medal in a great series against the #1 ranked D’Backs !!
A Huge Salute to Pat Bisson and Mike Weatherbee (The Twins), for dealing with all the injuries and issues they had with their team this year. But they fought their way through the Season and then the Playoffs and came out GOLD at the end of it all !!
Great Work Guys and great job Twins Players !!

Congratulations to the D’Backs for taking home the 2023, “AAA” Divisions Silver Medal !!
The D’Backs had a great season finishing in 1st place in the regular season and winning the Leagues Pennant and capping off the season by winning the Silver Medal in a hard fought battle against the Twins !!
A Huge Salute to first time Manager, Dave Curtis and Coach Brad Campbell, for an awesome season.
Great Work Guys and great work D’Back Players !!

Congratulations to the Blue Jays for taking home the 2023, “AAA” Divisions Bronze Medal !
The Blue Jays had a great season finishing in 2nd place in the regular season and capping it all off with the Bronze Medal.
A Big Salute to first time Manager, Gary Paukert and Coach Chris Billingsley for an awesome season.
Great Work Guys and great work Blue Jay Players !!
