2022 Registration Update - Zone 2 Issue

Hey Everyone,

So Ok, I’m sure everyone is getting annoyed with these Registration Updates. So Sorry about that !!
But Hey, on that note, Let’s have another Registration Update.

So we recently had an issue brought up that we were not aware of and it affects Players in Zone 2.
It appears that all Zone 2 Players that signed up with AB55 before May 31st 2021 (so last year) had their fees rolled over to this season. So it’s creating some confusion.
This is the official message that we received from Ed Michel with AB55 earlier today,

“Everyone that purchased a 2021 BCSSS Zone 2 membership before May 31 2021 has a 2022 Zone 2 BCSSS membership.”

So for those in Zone 2 that have not yet Registered with Our League, CSMS55, it appears that you do not have to bother registering with AB55.
Im sure there will be questions about refunds if people in Zone 2 have already signed up again with AB55. John and I are trying to get answers on what the AB55 response will be. Be patient, we will sort it out and keep everyone updated.

For the rest of us in the other Zones this does not affect us. We still need to register with CSMS 55 and AB55.
So Let’s all get Registered ASAP and Help put an End to these Registration Updates !

Ok, A couple Great Quotes for putting up with another Registration Update.

“Baseball players are smarter than football players. How often do you see a baseball team penalized for too many men on the field?”
- Jim Bouton

“The best way to catch a knuckleball is to wait until the ball stops rolling around and then just pick it up”
- Bob Uecker

And a Bonus Quote,
“The key to being a good manager is keeping the people who hate you away from those who are still undecided”
- Casey Stengel

Thanks Everyone,
Paul M

Shout Out To All The Curlers from CSMS55

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to take a moment to recognise some of the Avid Curlers that play in CSMS55.
I know there are many from our League that Curl in the “off season”, myself included, so hats off to all the Curlers. Hope everyone had a great curling season.

But I would like to recognise one group of guys in particular, Team Edwards, made up of 4 guys that are all in our CSMS55 league.
Len Seib – Skip
Mark Jantzen – Third
Owen Melenka – Second
Bob Edwards – Lead
On this Past Thursday, they finished in first Place in their Division at Inglewood Golf and Curling Club in the Thursday Afternoon League. They pulled off a great come from behind win in their last game and forced a Nail Biting Draw to the Button to decide 1st Place, which Len pulled off to perfection. A TV shot if there ever was one !
And I love that they are all wearing Matching Blue Jays Caps in that Picture. Fashionable or coincidence !!

Congratulations Guys !! Job well Done !

Hi Everyone,

Our Registration Deadline of Sunday April 10th is fast Approaching. Only 30 days remain to get registered !!
So please take a moment and get signed up with the League and to also get signed up with AB55, which is a requirement to play in our league.
And we have noticed there are many that have registered with CSMS55 but have still yet to sign up with AB55. And vice versa, many have signed up with AB55 but have not signed up with CSMS55. Both need to be done and need to be done soon.
Let’s make our Registrar, John Schmidt’s job a little easier by getting signed up today, so he’s not scrambling on the last day to put everything together before the Evaluations get underway.

Peace River Summer Games Announcement

Hello League!
How long has it been since you’ve ventured up north? The Alberta55 plus Provincial Summer Games are in Peace River this summer, June 16-19 and are certain to be an excellent time for thousands of 55+
athletes. It will be a great ‘return to normal’ with all that has happened since the last Summer Games in Medicine Hat in 2019.As in past years, we would like to see as many teams as possible made up of CSMS League players heading up Highway #2 to compete and represent both our part of Alberta and the CSMS League.
Teams for the Summer Games are formed via Zone and age bracket. That’s Zone 3 for those living inside Calgary city limits, and Zone 2 for those living outside the city limits. Already Zone 2 has me (60+), Bruce Hall (65+), Terry McKechnie (70+) and Nick Radmanovich (75+) forming teams. If you live in Zone 2 and want to take part, please contact these
people. Thus far, though, we’ve heard nothing about teams going from Zone 3 -Calgary!
So, this is a shout-out to encourage those in Zone 3 get off yer duffs and form up teams in those age brackets! As you decide to form a team, Zone 3, you can coordinate with Dan Guglielmin, Activity Director at
Zone3Activities@Alberta55plus.ca. Perhaps you’ve been thinking about trying your hand at running a
team. Well, this is a great opportunity to give it a one-off try and see how you like it. Why not give it a whirl? Teams just don’t happen unless someone steps up to the plate. The League can help you withhow to contact potential players.
I hope we’ll have a BIG contingent of CSMS League players coming back with medals around their necks from Peace River. Please consider stepping forward to take the initiative!
Best regards,
Gary Paukert
President, Calgary Senior Men’s Slopitch League
Vice President South, Alberta55 plus
