Hi Everyone,

Well we managed to fight our way through all that Mother Nature put in our way last week, and I am pleased to announce that the 2022 Evaluations are Completed.

For anyone that was not aware, due to the weather we were forced to move the Evaluations from Sat Apr 23rd and spread them out over 2 nights, Mon April 25th and Tues April 26th.

First I would like to send out a Big Thank You to all of this years New Players and players being re-evaluated, that were able to switch the dates with such short notice and come out to be evaluated. Great Work Everyone. We all appreciated the Effort !!

A Big shout out to all the Coaches and Managers that were also able to adjust their schedules and be there over the 2 nights on Mon and Tues. Nothing works without you great Coaches and Managers and all you do. Thanks Everyone !!

Thank You to all the Volunteers that helped set things up and run all the Drills and to keep things flowing as smoothly as possible. Thank you, Owen Melenka, Mike Fitzsimmons, Mark Jantzen, Norm Buckley, Borden Gavrich, Rick Jolie, Randy Irwin, Gary Paukert and Brad Campbell. Job well Done Gentlemen. The League really appreciates your contribution !!

And Big Thanks to the Draft Committee that put in so many hours of their time behind the scenes to put this event Together. From all accounts it was a very well run event over the 2 day period. Thanks for your Tremendous Effort !!

And I certainly don’t want to Leave out Rick Anderson for all the work he put in over the last several days to ensure the field was in Playable condition for everyone. Thanks for all your effort Rick. It was very much Appreciated !!

And a reminder to All Coaches and Managers Only,

Once the Drafts are completed all players will be contacted by their new respective coaches/managers and will be provided with all the info they need.

Weather Permitting, Opening Day is just around the Corner, Tuesday May 3rd.
We are getting so Close to the Start of a New Season. I can’t wait to see everyone out on the fields,

On that Note,

“An Opener is not like any other game. There’s that little extra excitement, a faster beating of the heart. … You know that when you win the first one, you can’t lose ’em all.”

Cheers Everyone,

Hi League,

Ok, so I need to Clarify a point about the Evaluations happening this coming Saturday April 23rd.

The only players being Evaluated are New Players to the League and “Returning Players”

“Returning Players” means, Players that have played in our league once before, but for whatever reason, took at least 1 year off and are now re-joining our League again after the absence. So they have to be Evaluated again like a New Player.

So, if you played in our League Last Year you do not have to be Evaluated again this year !!

There are approx 43 New Players and “Returning Players” (guys coming back to the league after an absence) being evaluated this weekend. And they have all been contacted directly by me to confirm their group times and evaluation location.
There is also 1 player being re-evaluated.

All other Members, if you were not directly contacted by me, it is because you are an existing Player that played last year. So you do not need to come to Evaluations unless you are a coach/manager, helper or Committee Member.

All you guys can now get out and Help Triwood with their Volunteer Request for Saturday.

Thank You to the Guys that reached out to me to ask for Clarification on this Point,

Thanks Everyone,

Paul M

Hi Everyone,

Our Friends at Triwood Community Association have contacted us here at CSMS 55+ and asked us to reach out to our Members to help look for Volunteers to help them with their Community Clean up day, which is scheduled for this coming Saturday April 23rd.

Now that day, unfortunately, is the same day our League CSMS 55+ is doing our Evaluations at Charleswood 2 Diamond.

Many of our group will be at the Evaluations, as a participant or coach/manager or as a helper, but for the rest, here is your chance to help out our Friends at Triwood.

Triwood has arranged with the City of Calgary to have Garbage Trucks available to help the Community dispose of electronics, metals, recyclables and will have donation bins available as well.

They will be running 2 shifts on April 23rd. One shift from 8:30am until Noon. And one shift from 11:30am until 3:00pm

The co-ordinator of this event, Jennifer Waller says this mainly consists of helping direct traffic to the appropriate truck or area. In Her words, “nice and easy”. They are looking for at least 10 volunteers to assist and make this event a success.

If you are available and willing to help. Please try and contact
Jennifer Waller before end of day Tomorrow Wed, Apr 20 on her email
events@triwoodcommunity.com

Thanks Everyone

Good Morning League,

This is a follow up to my last message regarding the AB55 Plus Winter Games that just wrapped up several days ago in Edmonton.

In my first search for CSMS 55+ Players that may have Participated at the Winter Games,
I missed a Gold Medal Winner from the recent Games.

In Badminton, Mens 55+ Doubles Division, I am pleased to announce that Mark Lebere and his teammate won the Gold Medal in that Division. That’s an incredible result !
I’m also very pleased to announce that Mark is a Brand New Player to our CSMS 55+ Family and he has just signed up with CSMS 55+ this year.

Great work Mark, Excellent performance. Congratulations to you and your Team Mate William Walker on your Gold Medal in Badminton.

I am very pleased to Welcome Mark and all the new Players that have signed up this Year with Calgary Senior Men’s Slo-Pitch 55 +.
I Look forward to seeing you all on the Field of Play.

Cheers,

Paul M

Hi Everyone,

Well another successful AB55 Plus Winter Games has wrapped up and from all Accounts, it was a Amazing Time for all involved. This years winter games were held at the Edmonton Expo Center, which for anyone familiar, is an Amazing Facility.
The Games kicked off on April 7th and wrapped up on April 10th.
These games take Months of preparation and planning to pull off and need the help of hundreds of assorted Volunteers and of course the many Participants which make these Games such a Success.

There a few Individuals from our League that need to be Recognised for their contributions. Participants and Organizers alike.

First and Foremost, we have to Recognise our own Dave Finn, who as President of AB 55 Plus contributes countless hours of his time to make AB55 Plus and all it does such a Success. And that doesn’t include all Dave does for our own League as a current board member and Manager of the AAA Braves.
Great work Dave !! Truly Amazing Effort ! Congratulations on a Job Well Done !

Gary Paukert, AB55 Plus Vice President South, who also contributes so much of his time and energy to make the Games a Success. And as hopefully everyone knows, Is the Current President of our little group CSMS 55+. Gary played last Year on the AAA BlueJays.
Fantastic Job Gary. Keep up the Great Work !!

Nick Radmanovich, AB55 Plus Technical Director South. Who like Dave and Gary contributes so much of his time to make AB55 Plus a great success. Nick played in last years Dayball league and helps run the Orioles AA team.
Awesome Nick. Fabulous Work !!

You Gentlemen must somehow get more than the 24 hours in your day then I’m getting !!

And now I would Like to send out a Big Shout to this Group of AB 55 Plus Winter Games Participants from our League who wrapped up the Bronze Medal in Curling in the Men’s 65 Division.

Don Jorgensen – Current CSMS 55 Board Member and Treasurer. Don also manages the A’s in the A Division
Ken Kalynchuk – Current CSMS 55 League member. Ken played for the Jay’s in the A Division last season
Greg Lewis – Current CSMS 55 League member. Greg played for the Brewer’s in A Division last Season
And let’s recognise their teammate Dieter Norgaard who although not a member of our League “Yet” helped make this Team a success.
Awesome work Gentlemen !! Congratulations.

I would Love to Hear from any and all other members of our CSMS 55 + League Family that participated this Year in Edmonton at the AB 55 Plus Winter Games. Send me a message, and Lets get you the recognition you deserve.

If I have Missed Anyone, Organizer or Participant, my Sincere Apologies. Please reach out to me and I Will Make the Adjustments

And Hey, Let’s help AB 55 Plus make their Summer Games in Peace River a bigger success, get signed up now !!

Big Applause to All Involved in the AB55 Plus.
