Yogi O’Reilly is setting up a fire truck parade to help Phil celebrate. Contact him at 403-217-1993 for info.

Join me in congratulating Phil for this big achievement and thanking him for his work on and participation in our league.

Funeral for Stan Hay Saturday, August 4, 2020

Posted by Gary Paukert at Jul 29, 2020 7:20AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Good Morning, League:

Kevin Erwin has sent me the following message about services honouring Stan Hay:

I just had a call from Stan’s son Rob advising that Stan’s funeral is August 4th at 10:30. Services are being held at McInnis & Holloway, 14441 Bannister Road SE (Fish Creek)

_Rob has asked that only 10 CSMS league players attend, less spouses, due to the amount of people throughout the different ball associations Stan was a member of and as well the COVID restrictions. _

As it is right now both Nick and Kevin from the Orioles will be attending and the first 8 players to text me at 403-607-8729 advising that you WILL be attending, will be put on the list. If I don’t text you back that you are invited to the funeral, his son Rob apologises but he has to allow other people from Stan’s past as well.

Best regards,

Good afternoon, Calgary Senior Slo-pitch,

I’m sad to have to report that Marilyn Taylor, our devoted league secretary for many, many years and wife to Peter passed away Monday morning, July 27 after a long battle with cancer.

If there is any good news these days, it is that COVID-19 restrictions have been relaxed a bit and because the interment services for Marilyn are being held outside, up to 200 people may attend. I’m sure many from our league who knew Marilyn will want to.

The service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, 1605 – 100 St S.E. Calgary this coming Saturday, August 1st at 11:00am. Follow the directions to ‘Funeral Parking’ and park there. If that parking lot is full, parking is allowed on the road on the right hand side. The service will be very short beginning at 11:00am at Building #98 which is due west of the the parking lot. There is also a map at the entrance of the cemetery. Please wear masks if possible, and a limited amount will be available for those that don’t have any.

Immediately after the service, there will be a family-only gathering at the house. Marilyn’s daughter Kelly is coordinating things and can be contacted at 780-668-9506 at least through the weekend if you have any questions. She says that it is ok to contact Peter if you wish.

Marilyn requested that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to either Children’s Cancer or to Woman in Need.

Thank you to Ron Williams and Geoff Weiss who notified me about this. I encourage all of Peter’s softball buddies to support him at this difficult time.

With condolences,

Gary Paukert
